Why Have a Messianic Jewish Fellowship?

Why Messianic Jewish Fellowship?

Messianic Jewish fellowship is a testimony to God’s faithfulness to keep his promises to Jewish people. Through a Messianic Jewish fellowship, Jewish believers are able to keep their identity as Jews. Jewish believers are members of the body of Messiah Yeshua, but HaShem is committed to preserve Jewish identity (Jeremiah 31:35-37; Acts 15:1-15).

The Abrahamic Covenant says Jewish and Gentile believers will worship God in unity. One of our goals is to preserve Jewish identity through a fellowship of Jewish believers. In Jeremiah we see that God’s preservation of the Jewish people as a people will not end. Acts 15 is the Jerusalem Council (about 49AD) which continued the distinction between Jews and Gentiles. Gentiles would not have to become Jewish in order to receive the blessings of God. Therefore, if you are a Jewish believer you ought to have the opportunity to maintain your Jewish identity if you so choose.

We are a fellowship which includes Gentiles (folks who are not Jewish). Now, if you are not familiar with a Messianic congregation, you will see some things that may seem a little odd and other things that will be very familiar to you. Some liturgy is in Hebrew, most of it is in English, but all liturgy comes from the Bible. We sing, we pray, we have a message based on the week’s Scripture reading. Our focus, our worship is toward God and His Messiah, Yeshua.

Another goal is to biblically teach about and worship our Jewish Messiah, clearly teaching from the 1st Century perspective. Not only does this preserve Jewish identity, it is also a testimony of the Good News to Gentiles (1 Corinthians 9:19-20). What could be a greater testimony to Jews and Gentiles than to see that the children of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob have placed their faith in their Jewish Messiah – and so have Gentiles? The early Believers certainly saw the Jewish way of life and faith in the Messiah as completely compatible – because it is. We teach from a 1st Century perspective without compromising the truth of all Scripture, and the Lordship of Messiah Yeshua, our King. Blessed be HaShem (The Name)!

Do you have to be Jewish to fellowship with us? No!  God is to be worshiped by everyone!
